Symbolism of drinks in #Vincenzo: another theory thread by me lol

#VincenzoEp19

Makgeolli

Makgeolli is Vincenzo’s way of looking back to his Korean roots. The white of makgeolli symbolizes his just and empathetic side. (Won’t say good, I think ‘just’ is the right word). The side of him who empathizes with the oppressed. #Vincenzo #VincenzoEp19

If you’ve noticed, talks with makgeolli usually revolve around injustice and how he has the capability of correcting this. (May it be with Atty Hong, Hong Cha Young or Jang Han Seo) #Vincenzo #VincenzoEp19

I love how #Vincenzo drinks makgeolli with the people he considers as family. And they are also the people he drinks with makgeolli are usually the ones who have the most faith in him, who sees past his facade, who believes he’s good despite all he has done. #VincenzoEp19

If I’m not mistaken, he has only drunk makgeolli with: Atty Hong who taught him the etiquette of drinking, Hong Cha Young and Jang Han Seo. #VincenzoEp19

Wine

The bordeaux color of wine often let us see #Vincenzo’s Italian roots, his Mafia side. When he drinks wine, blood is usually spilt in the next scenes. #VincenzoEp19

Wine is the drink equivalent of his lighter. It’s for contemplating plans on how to tear down his opponents. And it’s not the “cleanest” plans out there. It’s the cat thinking of how to kill or toy with his prey. Also, he usually drinks wine by himself. #Vincenzo #VincenzoEp19

That is why the broken wine glass was a bad omen. A warning that his Mafia side will bite him back. And him putting wine to the yellow mug meant that the blood that will be spilled will not be his. (Mug is from the law firm when they drank instant coffee) #Vincenzo #VincenzoEp19

Coffee

Coffee brings out... #Vincenzo, just as his usualy relaxed self. He loves all the other drinks, but with coffee, he’s really particular with it. It’s an identity. It’s his taste.

I love the fact that he mostly drinks coffee with Hong Cha Young.

Sometimes, he also drinks it with NJS, the paralegal. He’s the reason why
Vincenzo acquired a taste for instant coffee. (And the NJS acquiring Vincenzo’s taste for coffee too!)

Not sure if you’ve noticed but HCY is always there in the scenes where #Vincenzo is drinking coffee.

The two may have very different tastes from each other, but coffee is their middle ground. Also, since the first episodes, #Vincenzo usually offers iced Americano to HCY. #VincenzoEp19

And it’s also where his Italian roots and Korean roots mix. #Vincenzo had doubts about the drink, but his acquired taste and love for Korean instant coffee is undeniable. He may have “left” HCY, but he didn’t forget to pack his sticks of coffee. 😂 #VincenzoEp19

Also, this was a weird scene because it was the first time we see the bottom of his coffee cup among all other scenes. And it took quite a pause, just letting us see this cup. I may be overthinking this but perhaps this may be related to tasseography? #Vincenzo #VincenzoEp19

It’s the art of fortune telling through coffee, tea or wine sediemnt. Idk really what that cup means, but I’m just betting my money that it has some symbol. There may be some relation with how #Vincenzo always drinks coffee with HCY and this scene, and it’s probably another omen.

All of the three drinks appeared in #VincenzoEp19, usually it’s just one of the drinks or combination of the two. I think this portrays that the drama is finally coming to an end. And I’m curious which drink will #Vincenzo be holding at the last ep.

Let’s all hope that it will either be makgeolli with the Geumga Plaza family or coffee with Hong Cha Young. #Vincenzo #VincenzoEp19 #VincenzoEp20

Well, there were no makgeolli, wine or coffee on the last episode, but #Vincenzo definitely drank a tall glass of Hong Cha Young.
