Begin Eid with the Sunnah ๐ฟ
Although this Eid may be a bit different, start your Eid with the same rituals - eat an odd number of dates, perform ghusl, dress up in your best clothes and recite the Eid takbirat.
2/11
Send Virtual Eid Greetings ๐คณ
Take some time to call your loved ones, send a text or leave a message wishing them a Happy Eid.
The Prophet Muhammad PBUH would greet people on Eid with the following:
"TaqabbalAllahu Minna wa Minkum" - May Allah accept from us and from you
3/11
Observe Eid Salah Safely ๐คฒ
It is permissible to pray Eid Salah at home given the constraints of the pandemic. You can pray with your immediate household or even alone.
If group prayers are allowed, it is best to pray outside with masks and distancing precautions.
4/11
How to Pray Eid Salah at Home ๐
Eid salah is two rak'ah with extra takbirat. It can be prayed between 20 minutes after sunrise and 20 minutes before Duhr.
5/11
Remain Cautious and Vigilant โ ๏ธ
Regardless of whether you or those around you have received the COVID-19 vaccine, gatherings may still not be safe during the ongoing 3rd wave.
Most Canadians have not received both doses of their vaccine & are not fully protected.
6/11
Safer Gatherings *If Permitted* ๐ก
If gatherings with those outside your household are allowed in your region:
- avoid if sick or you've been exposed
- limit to 1 gathering
- stay within gathering limits
- outdoors > indoors
- meet for shorter periods
- mask & distance +++
7/11
Host Virtual Eid Gatherings ๐ป
Follow your local regional public health guidelines regarding indoor and outdoor gatherings.
Regardless, it is best to minimize gatherings with those outside of your household and to host virtual Eid parties instead.
8/11
Curbside Drop-offs and Gift Deliveries ๐
Consider having gifts delivered, using e-transfers instead of physical cash and curbside drop-offs for your extended family and friends.
9/11
Pay Your Zakat ul Fitr ๐ต
The fitra (equivalent to the cost of one meal) has to be given before the Eid salah. The average fitra in Canada is around $10. Consult your local masjid to ensure you fulfill this obligation.
