To start I was exploring what past usernames Joel Greenberg had used on Twitter. To do this I looked for past tweets TO him to see if they used different usernames
In the past he used:
JOELGREENBERG
__J_O_E_L__G
_JoelGreenberg
Joel__Greenberg
and finally
jmg2485
Later I saw this tweet from @Out5p0ken
and this tweet from @alanVRK
Greenberg was running a media company and owned multiple sites. I was able to using the email from Out5p0ken's tweet find a website he owned taxcollectors(.)us and pull his phone number, which I ran through Google and found this
hmmm... JMG2485 and Chronic2485....
TO THE GOOGLE
Someone using that username was active on Twitter and interested in stock trading, something we know Joel Greenberg was
Further down in the search we find two reviews for escorts on a site named "Escort Exam"
You have to pay to read the reviews and I'm not about to put my credit card or bitcoin into this site
I did spin up a guerrillamail one time use to check guerrillamail.com
Finally I used a username search engine, a specialized search engine that checks standard username urls like, site.c0m/user/[username goes here] to check if that username was used anywhere else
