Group B analysis in EURO 2021 (Thread) #EuroFantasy
Belgium 🇧🇪
Russia 🇷🇺
Denmark 🇩🇰
Finland 🇫🇮
Time to take a look at group B and all the teams with general information, predicted lineups, predictions and fantasy assets to look towards and ones to avoid
BELGIUM - @AllyMcilveen1
General info:
We have won 17 of our last 19 competitive matches since European qualifiers, keeping 7 clean sheets during that period. 40 goals scored and only 3 conceded. We played 2 teams that we will have in our group throughout this period,...
Russia who we beat 4-1 and 3-1 and Denmark who we beat 2-0 and 4-2. So it’s fair to say that we are in really good form coming into this tournament with our attacking play style and dominating possession especially with Lukaku in amazing form.
Formation: 3-4-3
Lots of risk rotation due to high quality squad, players like Castagne, Carrasco, Dendoncker, Boyata and of course Eden Hazard depending on his fitness, are players that could be rotated in
Underpriced:
Denayer at 4.5 feels like a real bargain because he plays for a team that’s strong at the back with a decent looking group. He also played in all 6 nations league matches
Overpriced:
Eden Hazard at 10.0 feels a bit much for someone who may not be 100% fit with possibility of rotation due to the amount of quality players that we have in that position that could play instead of him
Recommendation:
Lukaku at 11.0 may be a bit on the expensive side but with penalties, great fixtures and players like KDB, Tielemans, Carrasco and Mertens behind him, Lukaku will have a lot of chances and considering the form he has been in he could definitely bag lots of goals
Prediction:
I feel like this could be the year we finally click, with attention on teams such as England, France and Portugal, the pressure will be on them and with a favorable enough group, this feels like we could have a chance of winning the entire thing.
RUSSIA - @fpl_russia
General info:
Russia is a defensive side that relies a lot on counterattacks and getting the ball to a tall target man in the form of Dzyuba. Russia won 8 out of 10 games in the qualifiers and the games that we lost were against Belgium twice
Formation: 5-4-1
Underpriced:
Semenov at 4.5 is the one I would consider as our most underpriced player. He will start and is the only right-footed centre back that we pretty much have.
Overpriced:
Cheryshev at 8.0 is our most overpriced player because he isn’t a sure starter. Very injury prone and has had a weak season in Valencia with only 3 assists and 0 goals in 20 appearances because of a conflict with the coach
Recommendation:
Fernandes at 5.5 is a defender that loves to get involved in the attack and can easily pop up with a goal or an assist here and there. Golovin at 7.5 is also a good option with him being on set pieces and being the main artist and engine of the team
Prediction:
Russia will definitely fight for the second place in the group with Denmark, average chances of reaching the playoffs with everything will be decided by the last match with Denmark. I think we will reach the playoffs from 2nd place and lose in the round of 16.
DENMARK - @FplWinx
General info:
In 2020 after qualifying for the tournament it was announced that Hareide would leave his role as manager. So for the last year Denmark has had a new coach known for a more positive approach and developing young players, Kasper Hjulmand.
Denmark played 8 qualifying games finishing 2nd, conceded just 6 goals (3 of these in the first game) and scored 23 goals. It’s worth noting that all these games were under the manager Hareide. Hjulmand took charge ahead of the nations league 2020/21 and led Denmark to a 2nd...
place finish ahead of England. Danish football seems to be developing well at the moment and many Danes will have high expectations going into the tournament.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Christensen did get injured vs City and should he miss out I expect Andersen to take his place. But Christensen has the most caps and previous international caps is something Hjulmand values. The striker spot is likely the biggest question mark. Currently...
the 2 most likely candidates are Wind and Dolberg. Wind has had a better season at club level and he got his chance in the world cup qualifier when and he grabbed it assisting Braithwaite and getting himself on the scoresheet for his 3rd international goal in 6 caps.
Underpriced:
Kjaer at 4.5 is underpriced considering he is our captain. Maehle being at 4.5 is understandable since he just recently started to get into the team (should have been called up ealier) but 4.5 for a nailed CB who gets you ball recoveries seems great value.
Overpriced:
Yussuf Poulsen. Well it’s remarkable how Poulsen is priced as our most expensive forward in the game when he plays on the wing and hasn't got a prolific record for his nation or is on penalties or something like that. I would stay clear of him. He is also likely...
to be the one who gets dropped with a poor performance. Christensen at 5.5 mil is also a joke considering the fact that it’s his position to lose. Kjaer is nailed and will start when fit.
Recommendation:
If Jonas Wind gets the nod I think he could become a really good cheap option at 6.0 if you fancy a differential. He is an excellent finisher and hold up player. I would also recommend having a look at our defenders. Most of them are great value for money...
As I talked about earlier, Maehle being a naturally right footed player means he is more likely to cut inside and shoot rather than a left footed LB would so I reckon he can grab a goal or 2 from open play with the same CS chance as everyone else.
Prediction:
I expect Denmark to get to the round of 16 at least. We could potentially play at home during the round of 16 so that would be a boost. We have become a difficult team to beat and all the big nations would like to avoid us. On a good day I could see us go very far
FINLAND - @jari_schwartz
General info:
Finland is in the tournament for the first time ever! This tournament will be the biggest thing in the history of Finnish football. Teemu Pukki scored 10 of Finland's 16 goals and he will be on pens during the tournament. The manager...
Kanerva has done a brilliant job to get this team to their first tournament. He likes to have players that can play in different positions and likes to make changes according to the game and it won’t be a surprise if he uses all the 5 subs every game...
When it comes to playstyle we usually like to counterattack and use high pressure to disturb the opponents.
Formation: 4-4-2 / 3-5-2
It won’t be a surprise if Granlund/Alho gets a game at right back or gets subbed on. Pohjanpalo at 6.0 might start on the bench but with his recent form (4 goals in last 3 games) in the Bundesliga he is too good to just come in to replace Pukki in...
the dying minutes. If they play with 3 at the back then O’Shaugnessy or Väisänen might come in.
Underpriced:
Lukas Hradecky. One of Bundesliga best goalkeepers and Finland’s number 1 for only 4.0. In the qualification he played 9/10 games. 6 clean sheets and 7 goals conceded
Overpriced:
Kamara at 6.0. He is the most expensive midfielder for Finland and he is one of the most important players for Finland, he is great at passes and ball recoveries but that’s not what you want in fantasy and you should only expect him to get you appearance pts.
Recommendation:
Hradecky once again. As 4.0 he is a perfect 2nd goalkeeper. Expect some save points and maybe a clean sheet. I would like to recommend Lod (5.5) as well. 5.5m is a bargain for a player that will most likely be assisting the goals and knows Pukkis movement well.
Prediction:
I would expect Finland to not get past the group stages since it’s our first EURO’s ever but I would very much like to be proven wrong.
Forgot to mention him but the text about Russia 🇷🇺 was also written by @ivanov_zakhar
