And here he is - the one and only @jonawils, live from Wandsworth in south-west London, WITH THE DRAW FOR THE #WORLDCUPOFGODS!!!

Well, some thrilling matches to come!

@jonawils will be back with his analysis of the draw before the first four matches kick off at 10 am.

In the meanwhile, for those who may have missed it, here are @GaryLineker, @maxrushden & Top Sports Pundit @wmarybeard with their tips

So, with half an hour to kick off at 10 am, here is @jonawils with his thoughts on the first round of matches in the #WorldCupOfGods - the talking points, the derbies, the likely winners & losers.

(Truly, one of the funniest 2 minutes of punditry you will ever see!)

And here we go!

Kick off in the @TheRestHistory 2021 #WorldCupOfGods!

First up: Zeus vs. Moloch

Only gods who, at some point over the course of history, have ceased to be worshipped are eligible to compete.

Full details of the qualification requirements, together with an explanation of the tournament schedule, can be found in this preview episode:

The run of play going with the seeded players so far, but Bridget putting up a very good performance against the hotly tipped Apollo, and Ishtar, I think, with a real chance of pulling off an upset against Mithras - so all very much to play for!

Well, Ishtar couldn’t quite pull off what would have been a stirring victory for fans of Mesopotamian sport. All the seeds in yesterday’s matches are through to the quarter finals: Zeus, Odin, Apollo and Mithras. Moloch, Xipe Totec, Bridget &, yes, Ishtar are out. #WorldCupOfGods

Today’s matches kick off at 10 am.

Athena v. Augustus Caesar

Loki v. Anubis

Isis v. Cybele

Dionysus v. Prince Philip

Some fascinating clashes there, but the all-Greek derby - Dionysus v. Prince Philip - the match that will probably hog tomorrow’s back pages. #WorldCupOfGods

AND HERE WE GO!

Kick off in today's round of matches in the #WorldCupOfGods!!!!

First match: Loki v Anubis

A reminder of the god-like qualities of Prince Philip.

Loki v. Anubis looks like being the classic that @jonawils predicted.

Prince Philip also in with a shout against Dionysus. (Not going to lie, I think it would be tremendous for the World Cup if he did make it through to the quarter-finals.)

An important clarification
