Germany built up down the right predominantly and switched the ball out to the left whenever they wanted to go for the kill.

When this switch was made, Havertz went central and Muller took Havertz position. This confused Portugal's defence and Kai's physicality is so effective.

With Germany's front three moving so fluidly compared to the French game, it sucked Semedo inside to try and help the bewildered central defenders and CDM's.

This opened it up for Gosens to get in behind in that right wing/right half space.

Despite having two ideal runners ahead of him in Jota and Ronaldo... not to mention 2 CDM's behind him protecting him, and playing against two CM's with average defensive ability.. Bruno was shit.

Physically Bruno is not top top tier and cannot hurt the best sides. Felix??

Renato was brought on to protect against Gosens but he too got sucked inside and failed to protect Semedo.

When the game got away from Portugal, he did however make amends by driving Portugal forward down the right and pushing Germany back.

Too little too late however.

The problem with two cloggers in midfield and an AWOL Bruno is that there is too much gap between defence and attack for Portugal. They need more presence and control in the middle of the park especially towards the latter stages of the tournament.

Ronaldo did not deserve to be on the losing side. Phenomenal performance. Hold up play, movement, the assist... his passing and leadership was second to none.
