Bengali Hindu Bhadralok's suppressed Marichjhapi Dalit Massacre

I didn't know about it.

In late 1970s, nearly 10,000 Dalits mostly from agrarian Namsudra Dalit community was systematically killed, gunned, forced to starve, women raped & drowned by Comrade Jyoti Basu of CPI(M).

Bengal which has successfully marketed its image as a "progressive" and "casteless" state of secular people has one of the worst history of communal riots and carnage and horrible caste suppression. This is a carefully crafted image of trio Bengali Bhadralok upper caste Hindus.

Bengal has and continues to be dominated (both in East and West ) by powerful Hindu Upper Caste trio of Brahmins - Vaidya - Kayastha and Bengali Muslim (fake)Pathans and Muslim converts from these castes. Bengali Dalits have suffered worst of the worst violence in last 100 years.

Unlike Upper Caste Hindus, a lot of whom left East Pakistan in 1947, a large majority of Hindus that stayed behind in East Pakistan, were actually Bengali Dalit Hindus, who became victim of horrible anti-Hindu violence in East Pakistan at hands of Pakistani Punjabi & Pathan army.

In Bangladesh Liberation movement an estimated 30 Lakh Bengalis (most of them Dalit Bengali Hindus) were massacred and nearly 8 Lakh Bengali women (again mostly Bengal Dalit Hindu) were systematically raped by mostly Ashrafized Punjabi Pakistani OBC Muslim & Pathan Army officers.

Nearly 1 crore Bengali (Hindus & Muslims) took shelter in India, most of whom returned back to newly created Bangladesh. But most Hindu East Pakistani Bengalis did not return. Majority of them Hindu Bengali Namshudra Dalits.

Congress regime dumped lot of these Dalit refugee to Adivasi inhabited infertile,semi arid regions Chotanagpur plateau under fancyfully named "Dandkarnaya "resettlement" project. Used to monsoon rain fed fertile fields of "sonar bangal", these Dalit Hindu Bengalis felt abandoned.

Newly resurgent UC Hindu Bhadralok led CPI(M) promised return of these 1.5 Lakh stranded Bengali Dalit Hindus to West Bengal from "Dandkarnaya". Left came to power in WB and nearly 40,000 Bengali Dalit believing promise of dignified return to WB of Left, came to WB on their own.

Upper Caste Hindu controlled left was never interested in these stateless Bengali Namshudra Dalits and forced them back to Dandkarnaya.Many were departed back to Dandkarnaya. Nearly 14,000 Namshudra Dalits escaped and settled on an island in Sunderbans in WB.

Marichjhapi Island was made into a self sustaining village with kaccha houses, village market, small school and dispensary by these poor Bengali Dalits.

For some unexplained reasons, Jyoti Basu, Kayastha UC CM of WB made it a "prestige" point to throw these "illegal" Dalits.

Using an excuse of these Dalits "illegally squatting" a state forest reserve land, he sent state police apparatus &what ensued in subsequent days was intimidation, violence, rapes, blockage of Island that led to emass deaths of nearly 10,000 men, women & children of these Dalits.

Boats carrying these Dalit women & children were drowned by hitting them with mechanized police boats; Dalit women from island, who had gone to fetch drinking water from nearest Island were dragged to police station and gang raped (this time Hindu raping Dalits).

Lastly,

In a forced blockage of Island to cut off supply of food and clean water led to eventually 5000 families out of 14,000 families officially "missing", who basically died of starvation, hunger, disease and even gunshots over long period of seige.
