@g_berish @DineshDSouza [1/9] That's not the issue. Here in NC, we passed our voter ID referendum by lopsided margin, and when legislators wrote the implementing law they provided for FREE photo IDs for anyone who didn't have one.
Democrats sued and blocked the law, anyhow, so they could keep cheating.
@g_berish @DineshDSouza [2/9] The free photo IDs were to be obtained at driver’s license offices. They were similar to driver’s licenses, except with no driving or vision test.
@g_berish @DineshDSouza [3/9] Here’s the law which the legislature passed, “filling in the details” as required by the Constitutional Amendment:
Senate Bill 824 / SL 2018-144 (2017-2018 Session):
ncleg.gov/BillLookUp/201…
(Note: you can Ctrl-F / ⌘F search the text for the word “free”.)
@g_berish @DineshDSouza [4/9] This web site has a lot of additional information about the long political battle over voter ID, in NC:
North Carolina Voter ID Amendment (2018) - Ballotpedia
ballotpedia.org/North_Carolina…
@g_berish @DineshDSouza [5/9] Currently, 34 of 50 States require some kind of voter ID, to prevent voter impersonation. This law would have made NC the 35th, if the Democrats hadn’t stopped it, in the courts.
@g_berish @DineshDSouza [6/9] Nobody serious pretends voter ID is "voter suppression." That’s just political propaganda from people who don’t want to stop the voter fraud, because they think they benefit from it. They well know that a voter ID requirement does not suppress any legitimate votes.
@g_berish @DineshDSouza [7/9] Voter ID only suppresses fraudulent votes — which is exactly why why the Democrat politicians oppose it (even though many rank-and-file Democrats support it).
@g_berish @DineshDSouza [8/9] Of course, being without a photo ID is a tremendous obstacle to daily life, in modern America. So offering a free photo ID to any North Carolinian who doesn't already have one is a real benefit to the poorest and most marginalized citizens.
@g_berish @DineshDSouza [9/9] But Democrat activists denied them that benefit, because getting a few more fraudulent votes is a higher priority to them than actually helping the people who need help the most.
