STPF Application Step 1: Eligibility Self-check
Confirm you are eligible to apply.
You must meet eligibility criteria by November 1.
Not eligible? The pop-up text on the application will explain why.

STPF Application Step 2: Applicant Background
Share your academic history + qualifying degree.
Upload your CV, no more than 5 pages.
Consider what info to include in your CV versus elsewhere in your app for maximum impact.

STPF Application Step 3: Verification
STPF works with a third-party vendor to verify your eligibility.
(You only need to submit verification once per application year, even if you’re applying to 2 program areas.)

STPF Application Step 4: Program Area Selection
You may apply to 2 of 3 program areas:
Executive (125+ placements)
Legislative (2 placements)
Judicial (1 placement)

STPF Application Step 5: References
3 letters of reference (LOR) are required for each program area.
You can use the same or different references for each program area.

STPF Application Step 6: Interests, Skills & Statements
- Identify your policy interests, skills + proficiencies.
- Compose a professional bio.
- Write applicant statements.
- Document extracurricular activities.

STPF Application Step 7: Review Your Application
The name says it all. Review your application materials. You'll do this once per program area app.
Your application is not submitted until the end of then next Step 8.

STPF Application Step 8: Agreement & Signature
Make it official. Sign a series of agreements related to the fellowship & hit submit!
If you are applying to two program areas, complete this step for BOTH applications.
