Craig Murray should not be in prison.

Craig Murray has spent his life courageously standing for what is right. He does not stand alone.

Good news under the circumstances - circumstances that would never have arisen in a society worthy of being called just or democratic.

The upcoming hearing in Julian Julian Assange’s case will this time not receive the careful commentary previously provided by Craig Murray, as he is now in prison too.

"If the lurch towards authoritarianism in the context of Covid-related restrictions was not enough to convince us our freedoms were slipping away, here's another blow to faith in British democracy & justice: the conviction & imprisonment of Craig Murray." patreon.com/posts/craig-mu…

Those who stand against torture and murder by their own states stand together.

In a free country, Craig Murray would be a free man.

“With a lifetime of public service, having neither assaulted nor robbed anyone, and posing no threat to public safety, Craig Murray’s sentence of eight months seems vindictive.” - Kenny MacAskill

Craig Murray had now been locked up for a week.

It’s reassuring (but not really surprising) to learn that Craig is being treated with respect in prison. Excellent to know he’s in good spirits and writing.

The judge said Craig Murray was not a proper journalist. This view is not shared by actual journalists with high professional standards.

“Many regarded Craig Murray’s writings as the only authoritative anti-establishment reports about the bid to extradite the Wikileaks founder to the US.”
Both incarcerated.

A message from Craig Murray’s wife, Nadira, following family’s visit.

It turns out that 'civil prisoner' Craig Murray has lesser rights than criminal prisoners- ineligible for early release on electronic tag. This compounds the injustice of imprisonment for the undefined and selectively prosecuted “jigsaw identification”.

Craig Murray, who has been in prison for two weeks now, is allowed to receive mail, also email messages, & very much welcomes doing so.

Craig Murray turned down honours from the Queen three times. The latest offer of hospitality at her pleasure he could not refuse.
Let's remember how it was his commitment to human rights that first set the British State against him.

Prison is not a place anyone can thrive in, but it sounds like Craig’s generous humanity is helping him make the best of it.

Craig Murray is currently unable to share his thoughts publicly - due to being in prison - but in April he offered insights about the latest imperialist occupation of Afghanistan ending in disaster:

Craig Murray, in prison, is not completely silenced. There's a letter from him in The Herald @heraldscotland

As Craig Murray finishes his third week ...

Daniel Hale joins a role of honour that also includes Julian Assange and Craig Murray. These are people whose humane dignity will outlive any memory of the morally stunted mediocrities that persecute them.

Craig Murray was initially denied the books sent him because some people soak the pages in illegal substances which are then smoked. Happily, the former diplomat has been able to donate books received to the prison library and read them on loan.

Craig Murray is classed as a civil prisoner. But citizens don’t imprison each other. Craig, like Julian Assange, is in effect a political prisoner - held by the British state.

Just a glimpse of the human impact of Craig Murray's incarceration.

Craig Murray had now served 5 weeks of his extraordinary prison sentence. Some thoughts are shared by @deepa_driver

As Craig Murray enters his sixth week in prison, locked alone in cell 22 hours a day, a reminder of why:

Scotland's Justice Secretary urged to use his powers to free Craig Murray on compassionate grounds.
(This is against the background of the court declaring Craig not fit enough to do community service but fit enough to spend 8 months in prison conditions.)

Craig Murray is getting a lot of letters from well-wishers, but supporters should keep them coming! Locked in a cell 22 hours a day provides a lot of time for reading.

And that's forty days done now.

Transcript of Craig’s speech, delivered by Nadira, to Alba Conference:

The difference between a decent human being and the mediocrities that slither into positions of power to trample on the principled could not be starker.

Even in prison, Craig Murray knows a human freedom these wretches will never experience.

“As a former Justice Secretary, I find this shameful, and that it should happen under the watch of those who claim to cherish our Nations’ liberty is disgraceful.”

FORMER justice secretary Kenny MacAskill has described the imprisonment of journalist and blogger Craig Murray as “shameful and unjust” and has agreed to meet the UK Attorney General after he raised the issue in the House of Commons.

And so they should.

Craig Murray will be spending his birthday in prison. But a celebration will be held online.

“There is one man who stood head and shoulders above us all in his attempt to expose the abuse being heaped on Salmond by a powerful State. That man was Craig Murray. Such was Big Brother’s anger that it then visited upon him a charge of Contempt of Court.”craigmurrayjustice.org.uk/2021/09/22/gra…

As Craig Murray gets to ponder the recently reported details about CIA plotting against his friend Julian Assange - both now in prison - it seems fitting to recall this more constructive interest CIA took in Craig via their review of his book.

Craig Murray would have a pithy comment to make on this, I imagine, were he able to write his blog from his own prison cell, given his visits to his friend in London.

October 17th is Craig Murray’s birthday. There will be celebrations live and online.

Link to online celebration of Craig Murray’s birthday - with many heart warming and inspiring contributions reminding us of some of the reasons this man’s influence and example cannot be contained by prison walls (& thanks to @deepa_driver for hosting):

A topical reminder of what we, the public, are missing due to Craig Murray’s unjust incarceration. Here he points to the harms to society of the state and media amplifying wild claims like those of Christopher Steele…

We’re counting the days now until Craig Murray is released and his pen can be unleashed…

A tremendous initiative: as we count the days to Craig Murray’s release, his supporters will each day be posting a short film. Ailsa Gray, a lawyer & member of the Craig Murray Justice Group, introduces the series with a powerful brief statement.

Former MI5 whistleblower Annie Machon sums up some of the reasons why Craig Murray commands such deep respect and affection, especially amongst those who know the courage it takes to maintain integrity in the face of extraordinary pressures.

A very personal tribute from Peter Oborne - @OborneTweets - to Craig Murray, who’s an inspiration, hero, truth teller and whistleblower who “writes like an angel”!

Eva Joly, French judge and former Member of the European Parliament, pays her tribute to Craig Murray - emphasising the importance of his impartial and careful reporting of Julian Assange's case.

Craig Murray’s unjust imprisonment is a “consequence of government abuse”, says Kenny MacAskill.

But within a week now Murray will be free again to speak for himself…

Next Tuesday, 30 November, we get to welcome Craig Murray out of Edinburgh prison.

Details of his release:

Two days now until Craig Murray can see his family - and speak to the world - from outside Edinburgh Prison.

[10 am, November, Saughton]

Tomorrow Craig Murray will be released from his unjust imprisonment. It’ll be a time to demonstrate support for him and for the principles of honesty, integrity and true justice that Craig has always stood for.
