What I found by looking at @GameStop’s public trademarks & patents
A look into its business strategy and where it could be heading… 🧵
Last night I was looking at trademarks publicly listed at @GameStop headquartered address: 625 Westport Pkwy Grapevine, TX in case something was registered under something that didn’t include “GameStop” (big brain, I know)
1. GameStop Texas LTD. (Atrix brand, gaming gear)
2. GameStop, Inc. (No relevant trademarks/patents)
3. Geeknet, Inc (Toy Figurines, Sleeping Bags, Plush toys & more)
4. Elbo Inc. (Interesting patent applications & grants)
5. GME Entertainment, LLC (New Concept Store!!??)
GameStop Texas Ltd: ATRIX – This has an incredibly long list of goods included in it which highlights what types of products they have already offered and will continue expanding into in the future.
Geeknet Inc: MODERN ICONS - This is the most recently filed trademark at the headquartered address and shows that they are expanding into carefully crafted toy figurine collectibles with IP rights from its partners.
Geeknet, Inc Cont. – This next trademark doesn’t have a name as its only a design only but if I had to guess, based off its classification of goods & services, this is the source for the newest Star Wars Tauntaun Sleeping Bag they have been promoting as a GameStop Exclusive.
Geeknet, Inc Cont. - This is also probably why the ‘Snazzy Bananya’ came so quick to market – they created a product that directly references its “squeeze”-ableness.
I guess you can delight your customers through confirmation bias 😉
Elbo Inc. – No recent trademarks but I want to highlight its patents. It seems as though GameStop is actively trying to patent & create its own tech in relation to:
-A system for remote game access
-Network enabled game controllers
Elbo Inc. – I have 0 experience reading patents but after reading these passages this is what I think they’re actively developing:
A remote system that allows you to access virtually emulated game consoles on network connected devices, displays, game controllers. But why?⬇️
GME Entertainment, LLC: BAXY – Now this is where things get really interesting. Take a look at what this trademark is listed as:
RESTAURANT, BAR & CATERING
Trust me, I was just as intrigued.
GME Entertainment: BAXY Cont. - While this was filed in 2019 unbeknownst to most of the world, guess what trademark just got refiled, granted, and approved as of July 07, 2021?
BAXY.
Sounds like they want to keep this active for a reason…
BAXY Cont. – Guess what I found when I typed ‘BAXY Gamestop’ into Google? This link:
carolinebeaulieudesign.com/baxy
BAXY Cont. - I present to you 'BAXY' – “an entertainment concept featuring a secret arcade, bookable game pods, couch co-ops, a hidden game room, and arena for streaming events… in collaboration with branding agency McGarrah Jesse, IA, & GameStop”.
BAXY Cont. - GameStop wants to become an entertainment center with food, drinks, consoles, & more?! 🤯
*keep in mind this is a prototype design
BAXY Cont. - Attached are assets used for the inspiration/image board, environmental translation, brand personality, & mindstates. The building blocks to create the desired outcome for the project & customer.
BAXY Cont. - Here are some rendered concept images of the prototype location along with links to the still accessible VR panoramic views:

panorama.enscape3d.com/view/wag2h8sl/
panorama.enscape3d.com/view/odvsymzc/
panorama.enscape3d.com/view/kfbqkoih/
panorama.enscape3d.com/view/spldhyn2/
BAXY Cont. – Remember those patents I was speculating on? Why might GameStop need to have remote access to a library of virtual games & consoles?
I believe they’ll use this technology to power this new space. Physical consoles littered everywhere wouldn't make much sense.
Baxy Cont. - Notice that in the prototype renderings you don’t see physical consoles anywhere? Just screens and stations for you to enjoy.
BAXY Cont. – This will all be powered by their BAXY app, the central hub for this entertainment space. This might even allow you to connect to game consoles remotely using your phone as a controller, kinda like the network enabled game controller patent might suggest.😏
Unique products? ✅
Unique experiences? ✅
Dedicated systems & tech to run it all? ✅
GameStop doesn’t plan on just being an e-commerce giant.
Thanks for reading my dive into @GameStop's recent trademarks & patents! 🧱🎮🦍🚀
Literally just created a reddit account after years of lurking and posted on r/DDintoGME. Feel free to crosspost

Not familiar with patents, like I mentioned. Spawn Labs was acquired by GameStop which created 'Slingbox' for video games.
Might just be a securitized patent that they have access to and aren't actually using as suggested by Vestro on the GMEdd Discord
