Labour lost the last election based on 2 main factors
1. Brexit
2. Public distrust of Labour based on smear campaign
I've done a lot of reading and research on the smear campaign against Jeremy Corbyn and lots of threads and tweets. This thread will explain the treachery 1/x
2/x
First image shows
Lord Ian Austin (a former Labour MP put into the House of Lords by the Conservatives)
John Woodcock (now Baron) similarly decorated for treachery
Austin and Woodcock run a group called “Mainstream” this outside Parliament before 2019 election 🗳
3/x
What is less known is that Mainstream worked 'hand in hand' 😕 with a Conservative PR group called 'Public First' strongly linked to Michael Gove
Public First are also implicated in COVID Contracts by @GoodLawProject
Mainstream spent £135,000 on this smear
4/x
The smear campaign against Corbyn was a broad as it was long.
Let's take a closer look at John Woodcock - I covered him briefly in an earlier thread on political connections.
Woodcock also has strong association with The Spectator via his wife!
5/x This tweet is from (right wing) Spectator journalist Stephen Daisley
Here Stephen thanked a broad spectrum of individuals who he feels worked together to bring down Jeremy Corbyn.
Strange bedfellows..
.
6/x
Here’s an example of Stephen Daisley’s journalism in The Spectator from a number of years ago.
Daisley refers to former Jewish Labour MP Gerald Kaufman as “a minstrel for Jew-haters” and “enabler of anti-Semitism”
This is a common accusation against left Jews today too
7/x
This is an excellent detailed article that looks at many (non party) campaign groups that worked to lose Labour the election
Over £6 Million spent outside of main party spending.
It corroborates the details above on Mainstream.
