Britain went wild for Tom Daley who won gold in the synchronized 10-meter platform: “I feel incredibly proud to say that I am a gay man and also an Olympic champion.” Imagine the impact of those words on young gay men with sporting dreams. 👏👏
Here’s Ana Marcela Cunha of Brazil, considered one of the best open water swimmers in history - who won the gold medal in the 10 km swimming marathon. 👏👏

Never before have so many out lesbian athletes competed in the Olympics. For gay sportsmen the prejudice remains strong — especially in soccer. Let’s hope it won’t be long till we celebrate the first out gay footballer in the Premier League./end
