Paul Klein aired an NBC miniseries ('78) adapted from Robert Daley's novel "To Kill a Cop." Daley was NYPD Deputy Commissioner from '71-'72 during the NYPD's brutal war on the Black Liberation Army, which served as his inspiration for this rabidly anti-black fascist copaganda

The contemporaneous reviews say it all: "angry violent blacks", "young blacks looking for any kind of excitement", "psychotic killer out of Attica", "street crazies", "underbelly of black society", "wild undisciplined gang", "gang of terrorists", etc

As the reviews delightedly point out, "Everett Walker" was clearly intended to stand in for Eldridge Cleaver

"In this novel about white cops and black killers, it seems there are no dishonest cops. Nor cowardly cops, for that matter. There are not even bigoted cops. Though several are butchered by black gunmen, not one word of racism is spoken."

Assata Shakur reports that an excerpt from Robert Daley's book "Target Blue" slandering the Black Liberation Army was "coincidentally" printed in New York magazine timed with the start of her 1973 trial. Paul Klein was a contributing editor at the time.

When Paul Klein brought Robert Daley's "To Kill a Cop" to NBC, he was responsible for beaming onto millions of screens the work of the operative who led the COINTELPRO demonization of Assata Shakur. Typical of Klein's career devoted to counter-insurgency.
