[Thread].1. How is Northwest province doing with #VaccineRollOutSA?
* To reach 70% of adults by Dec, NW needs to do 20 000 jabs six days/week
* Where are they now? NW is doing 13 000 jabs/week
* Biggest challenge = vaccine hesitancy
2. How many #VaccineRollOutSA sites does NW have?
* 55 fixes sites (42 public, 13 private)
* 200 outreach sites
* NW has all the required equipment and also enough staff and funds to vaccinate all adults who needs a vaccine
3. Vaccine hesitancy in NW province = biggest problem. NW hlth dpt says the graph below shows that it's particularly difficult to get people to visit sites that are open over weekends, so there are huge dips in weekend vaccination numbers.
4. How does vaccine hesitancy manifest? NW province says in the low % of registrations:
* Only 19% of people between 18 - 49 years have registered (18 - 34 yrs = biggest problem)
* Of those registered, high % (69%+) = vaccinated, but getting people to register = the problem
5. What is NW doing to address low registrations?
1. Health workers go door to door to get people registered
2. They work with religious settings, e.g. churches, to get people registered on site
3. Education campaigns about vaccines
6. How will NW speed up vaccinations?
8 mass vaccination sites will be established (4 sites = already up and running - 1 in Klerksdorp, 1 at NW university's Mmabatho campus and 1 at the Potch campus, which is also open on Sat and Sun)
7. How will people between 18 + 34 (group with the lowest registration rate) be targeted to register 4 vaccination in NW?
There will be registration stations at/for:
1. Biker groups
2. Institutions of higher learning
3. Libraries
4. Malls
Vaccinated influencers will be used.
