Malta right now is the highest in the world, with 83% fully vaccinated (!!!).

This is Malta.
Note that they too had a surge this summer. A fairly significant one, relatively speaking.
Fortunately, Malta has never had huge numbers of deaths. So whether there is some statistical significance in the death rate is probably impossible to calculate.
Take home point:
Vaccines are still protecting people from death and hospitalizations.
Vaccines are not perfect yet.
Treat vaccines like a necessity to avoid serious complications, but don't treat it like a force field either. Be smart, act smart.
