Place air cleaner 2-3 ft away from walls or open windows and doors. Do not block the unit’s air inlet or outlet, and place it as close as possible to the teacher and between the teacher and the students.

Rule of thumb: Look for a unit with a tobacco smoke CADR = 2/3 your room area.
6 - CADR and noise:
This graph shows comparison of 2 air cleaners with same CADR at highest setting. However, considering the noise, I would not go for the cheaper option here.
