Today is The International Day of University Sports, a celebration promoted by UNESCO to celebrate the promotion of civic values through physical education. Therefore, we bring you a selection of Spaniards who succeeded in the leagues of the @NCAA.

The first sport we’ve chosen is a classic among NCAA: basketball. In the men's league, Andrés Andrade, Miguel Ayesa and Joshua Tomaic stand out. As for the women's leagues there are more than 60 Spaniards as you can see in this thread.

Tennis is the sport that welcomes more Spaniards in the US's first university divisions, which is not surprising considering the example that tennis players like Rafa Nadal or Garbiñe Muguruza are for athletes like Carlos Guerrero or Carmen Aizpurua. #RespectHispanicHeritage

Soccer remains the most popular sport in Spain, which translates into a large player base in the U.S. universities. Many of them gain access through scholarships, like those of @LaLiga ProPlayer, which financed the studies of over 50 players last year.

There are also two Olympic players involved in U.S. collegiate sports: the gymnast Marina González Lara, studying at the University of Iowa(@uiowa), and the shooter Marina Gonzalez Mazo, who attends the University of Alaska Fairbanks (@uafairbanks). #RespectHispanicHeritage.

We couldn't close the thread without mentioning the main sport in the USA: football. It features two Spanish players who got into the professional league after playing at the University level: JJ Arcega-Whiteside (@jjarcega_22) and Alejandro Villanueva (@Alejand35294190).
