Powerful, moving, informative and crucial. Only four days left to see the #WarInnaBabylon exhibition at the @ICALondon curated by Rianna Jade Parker @xaymacans, Kamara Scott and @StaffordScott_. I went this afternoon with @Jodie_Abrahams and I fully recommend it.

The @ForensicArchi analysis of the 2011 police killing of Mark Duggan is a particularly chilling exposition of the collusion and contradictions in the police officers' stories, demonstrating how the establishment closes ranks in such situations.

I wish I'd been able to watch all four @menelikshabazz films shown in the exhibition. The one I did see, featuring interviews with young black Brixton residents in the late 70s, was fascinating, and the themes explored frame the last 40 years of race relations in London.

There is a common narrative that the architecture of London housing estates meant they were doomed to fail, or that they became no-go areas because of the behaviour of wayward youths.

But many common narratives obscure the real truth; it was frustrating and depressing to read that the history of Broadwater Farm was shaped mainly by Haringey council's careless and neglectful mismanagement.

Thank you @kelechnekoff for bringing the exhibition to my attention in the first place and @MarvinSparks for reminding me this week that it was about to close.

I'm glad I didn't miss it. If you haven't been already, try and make time before it ends this Sunday.
