A thread about election audits ahead of the Senate hearing today:
🧵⬇️
Good audits built trust. B/c they are conducted by experienced professionals who use well-defined, proven processes which produce reproducible results, good election audits provide quantifiable proof that that reported results match the canvass. Board members support good audits.
Regardless of what ends up in the final report, what Cyber Ninjas & co. conducted was not a good audit. It did not build trust.
While claiming transparency, Senate contractors shut out critical voices and withheld vital information from the public. This secrecy continues.

While claiming competence, they put ballots on spinning tables and took a “2/3 ain’t bad” approach to verifying counts. It will be interesting to see how they ended up w/ their final number.
While claiming independence, they welcomed “Stop the Steal” advocates as volunteers and allowed at least one candidate who appeared on the 2020 General Election ballot to be part of the ballot review process.

Additionally:
•No bipartisan oversight
•Rules developed on the fly, not guided by statute
•Vague scope of work
•No fixed timeline
And on…
Board members do not believe the flawed Senate/Cyber Ninja audit should discourage real election audits by experienced professionals. But let's be honest about the difference.
