Thread on how to dismantle any 100c.c bike's carburettor and clean them up. Applicable for Hero CD Deluxe/CD Dawn/Splendor & Bajaj CT 100. All these have almost same and similar type of carburettor, and hence dismantling and cleaning them will be same as in the thread

If you bike has starting problem or gets switched off frequently in traffic, it could be carburettor dusted up. However step 1 will be cleaning spark plug, step 2 is cleaning Carburettor. A clean carburettor will give good pick up and a good mileage : Assured

Here is a pic of carburettor after dismantling them. Let's see the steps on how to dismantle them.

1. 8 mm spanner
2. 10mm T Rod to dismantle the Utility Box
3. Star Screw driver (this will open almost most of the carburettor related parts)

Step 1: Dismantle the utility box with the 10 mm T-Rod.
The 2 nuts will be toughest when you fix back the utility box.
Reason : The position of these 2 nuts will hinder when fixing them back with clutch cable and accelarator cable coming your way

Step 2:With a flat screw driver loosen this Float thing which is placed at the bottom of the carburettor. Remember, petrol will come out once you loosen this. Make sure to catch this petrol in a small bottle, this petrol will help you clean the carburettor jets(more on jets below)

STEP 3: Loosen the accelarator cable thing anticlock wise. It will loosen with bare hands and no tools are needed to loosen this

STEP 4: Loosen this rubber looking thing. This is where air will come to carburettor, loosen this with the help of Star Screw driver.

STEP 5: 8 mm screw driver will loosen 2 nuts placed on either side and thats it. As you unscrew both these, you'll see that Carburettor coming out of its place

STEP 6: I have given more pictorial representation of what exactly they are. You are done with dismantling the Carburettor now. Pat on your back

STEP 7: There will 2 Jets when you unscrew the float at the bottom. There will be a bigger Jet and a Smaller Jet. Unscrew both these JETS with star Screw driver and and just make sure you clean them with the petrol you got when you unscrewed the Float.

STEP 8: These 2 Jets are nothing but 2 screws with hollow end. Just make sure you see the other end. If you don't see the other end, just insert a needle and clean them - that's all(I forgot to take pic). Just clean these 2 JETS/Screw with petrol. The petrol will clean them as new

STEP 9: Fix them back in the same order. Just make sure you close the FLOAT screw that you unscrewed at Step 2. If you don't close it, petrol will keep flowing through it. Final Output of the fixed carburettor

STEP 10: Adjusting the carburettor screw for mileage. Go to the other side of the bike and locate this screw.
We are trying to do the correct setting for the air/fuel mixture.
Step 10.1 : First tighten it fully
Step 10.2 : Do a full 360° turn and
Step 10.3 : Do a 180° turn

STEP 11: If you're confused on step 10, follow YouTube channels for correct air/fuel setting. Many channels cover this one. Fiddling with step 10 will result in poor mileage. If you still find you bike pick-up or mileage poor, take it to nearest mechanic and fix this one

STEP 12: after step 10, follow this Idling screw and tighten or untighten it as you require. This screw will be present on carburettor side. Do this step AFTER Step 10
