We strongly oppose Yohani De Silva and her song glorifying her father, ex-Army officer, Major general Prasanna De Silva- a coldblooded war criminal still contributing to genocide against Tamils. There are many reliable sources and evidence, (1/16)

including a 28-pages background dossier supported by ECCHR, regarding De Silva’s involvement in the coldblooded war crimes committed against the civil Tamils in 2009. Many brutal and horrific crimes and massacres were carried out by his troops under his command, (2/16)

as he was the Major General of the Sri Lankan army’s 55th division in the North of Sri Lanka. They mainly targeted and killed the civil Tamils and shelled down hospitals, schools, and civilian areas. (3/16)

The world and international community are failing to take any action against the war criminals of Srilanka. Instead, they are hailed as heroes-like in the song of Yohani who is praising her dad as the hero who saved her and the nation from terrorists. (4/16)

The song itself is manipulating and giving out the wrong message. Supporting this is just contributing to support the terror state and the genocide they keep on performing till this date. (5/16)

While her father and the other free walking war criminals are killing and continuing to do their part in the structural genocide against the Tamils, Yohani sings ‘’you are the decorated soldier who united north and south of the country’ how can north and south be united, (6/16)

when there is carried out a structural genocide even after 2009 till this date against the Tamils? How can an oppressed ethnicity be united while being executed for raising their voice? How can north and south be united when in the law Tamils can’t claim their rights. (7/16)

How can they be united when even the flag itself is racist and treating the Tamils as second class citizens? ‘’you were fighting terrorists’’ -Who was the terrorist? Is she talking about the 140 000 Tamils who were brutally killed for being Tamils? (8/16)

Under De Silva's command, his troops were shelling a hospital in Vanni continuously for about a week. This is also detailly written in a report by UN. ‘’you are my hero and I worship you with both of my hands on my head’’. (9/16)

How can a man being an important part of the killings of over 140 000 Tamils be a hero? His hands are still full of bloodstains. This has raised a huge dissatisfaction among the Tamils globally and in the diaspora. (10/16)

The power of music is well known and its impact on society is even bigger. By supporting Yohani and her song glorifying her father, despite him being a war criminal is just disrespectful. (11/16)

It does not matter what kind of relationship you have with him-even if you were supposed to be his child. The same should apply to Prasanna De Silva, as he is a genocidal war criminal. (13/16)

Just his name terrifies the many 100 000 of traumatized Tamils who witnessed all the crimes De Silva and many other war criminals of Sri Lanka committed. This is also one way of contributing to the structural genocide they carry out. (14/16)

This is used to normalize colonialism and oppression-This is Srilanka. (15/16)
