Jeffrey McKellop, a former member of U.S. Special Forces, will be in court tomorrow afternoon trying to secure pretrial release. Here’s video of one of several attacks he made on police on Jan. 6:

DOJ argues McKellop has "a short fuse,” has shown "an unwillingness to conform his behavior to the most basic requirements of society” and has a "lack of appreciation for the seriousness of his conduct on January 6.” storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…

"The officers attacked by the defendant will suffer lifelong consequences. Indeed, time has demonstrated that the officer whom the defendant stabbed in the face [with a flagpole] will likely have a permanent scar.”

Here’s McKellop stabbing the officer with the flagpole, then "throwing the flagpole like a spear as the officer retreated.”

Defense says McKellop "served his country in the United States Army for over 22 ½ years and earned a stellar reputation and service record prior to his retirement” and spent the past six months in jail "feeling hopeless about what his future hold.” storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…

DOJ: “The defendant, a former member of the United States Special Forces, weaponized his extensive military training and experience to attack the U.S. Capitol and the officers sworn to protect it during Constitutional proceedings on January 6, 2021.”

McKellop will appear before Judge Carl J. Nichols at 3 p.m. tomorrow.
