@bubbaprog @RepKatiePorter Mr. Summers -
How many acres of public land are ALREADY LEASED by the fossil fuel industry that haven’t been used yet?
S: blah blah blah…
P: Reclaiming my time!
The answer is 13.9 MILLION acres.
There are 7,700 UNUSED permits. 1/
@bubbaprog @RepKatiePorter @katieporteroc: To visualize how much UNUSED federal land is ALREADY AVAILABLE to the fossil fuel industry, let’s say:
1 grain of rice = 1 acre of land
That would be 479lbs of rice!!
That’s 13.9 MILLION pristine acres of land already leased to the oil and gas companies. 2/
@bubbaprog @RepKatiePorter @katieporteroc 3. Rep. Porter: The American Petroleum Institute has 13.9 million federal acres at their disposal, yet they SUED to stop the pausing of further public land leases.
Do you [Gas & Oil Execs] support the pausing of federal land leases to the fossil fuel industry?
No.
No.
No.
No.
@bubbaprog @RepKatiePorter @katieporteroc @Chevron @bp_America 4. Rep. Porter: The oil/gas industry already has 13.9M unused acres. That’s the equivalent of Maryland + NJ combined!
How much more do you need?!
You already have 2 of our 50 states at a price that makes the LA Purchase look like a rip-off!
How much more do you need?!
Uhm…
@bubbaprog @RepKatiePorter @katieporteroc @Chevron @bp_America 5. Rep. Porter to Oil/Gas Execs:
Our public land belongs to the American people, NOT Big Oil.
When you lobby and you SUE so that you can take more of our public land, you’re saying, “Too much is NEVER enough!”
The American people are tired of this charade!
<standing OVATION!>
