Meet Congressman John Yarmuth (D-KY), Chairman of the House Budget Committee. He is directly responsible for inserting the destructive vape tax in the spending bill. THREAD

He injected a “nicotine tax” in what’s called a “manager’s amendment.” But before he did, he made sure to *remove any taxes on cigarettes*. Tobacco manufacturers in his home state had lobbied heavily for the exemption and are big donors of his. courier-journal.com/story/news/pol…

Mr. Yarmuth is also the founder of something called the Congressional Bourbon Caucus, which is explicitly designed to promote liquor drinking and protect whiskey from being taxed.

He told CNN he was drinking bourbon to “fortify” himself when he worked on the legislation!

But wait, doesn’t CDC say that young people abuse alcohol more than any other substance? Isn’t alcohol use among teens far more prevalent than youth vaping? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Here is Yarmuth last April urging members of the European Union to eliminate tariffs on American liquor. He succeeded! The 25 percent tariff was lifted last month.

Here he is at a swanky event sponsored by his pals at the liquor industry trade association.

They even gave him a lifetime achievement award for helping to fight taxes and restrictions on liquor!

The point: Yarmuth exemplifies the public officials who seek to crush vaping and deny Americans the right to access the single most effective smoking cessation method ever devised – even as they protect other industries like liquor and cigarettes that are doing actual harm. END
