Yanghan moved from New Zealand to @UniMelb to pursue a Bachelor of Science as this course allowed him to pick a variety of subjects from different disciplines.
Yanghan felt @UniMelb was a great choice he was surrounded by people from different backgrounds, that wanted to learn!
Yanghan was inspired to pursue a career in STEM as he was always curious, often asking his parents 'why?'.
He really wanted to know how purely theoretical knowledge could be applied in the real world, for example, engineering with the application of maths and physics 💻⚙️
Aside from studying, Yanghan's favourite experience at @UniMelb has been the experiences you can gain outside of class and recommends new students to get involved in a society. For example a sports club or student politics 🎉👨🎓
Another takeaway piece of advice from Yanghan is:
"Don't be shy to ask for help and find a study buddy. STEM is challenging and the person next to you is probably struggling as well. It is a lot easier getting through hard subjects when you can work on problems with someone else"
In 2021, Yanghan become an In2Science mentor to inspire students to pursue STEM in the future. Being in the classroom gave Yanghan the chance to tell students about university life and how exciting science can be at a university level.
