From the humble band of brothers (in a trio/triad) to tribes, to clan-associations and old guilds of the East and West, these groups benefit from having members who are diverse in their information sources, talents and experience.
3/x What are DAOs?
Decentralised Autonomous Organizations, in the ideal sense, is a community-led cooperative with no central authority. It is fully transparent; proposals are to be decided via governance tokens, embedded into smart contracts, executing the consensus' decisions.
4/x Growth of DAOs
Towards the end of '20, there have been over 2000 DAOs registered with Aragon, achieving close to 100% growth yoy from '19. With the '21 bull cycle, the no. of DAOs could easily increase by 3-4 folds, and DeepDAO is not accounting for those that are independent
5/x Sectors of DAOs
Sectors on functionality:
Operating Systems, Grants/Incentives, Protocols/Networks, Investments/Ventures, Service/Guilds, Social/Community, Collectors/Curators and Media
DAOs could be categorises by their asset mix and. More hybrids in the future.
6/x DAOs and their treasuries
Since late June, the top 20 DAOs treasury, grew from $6B to nearly $14B worth of digital assets. Defi natives would be familiar with the top few Defi protocols such as Uniswap (3.7bn), Compound (875mn treasury), OlympusDAO and Lido.
7/x Nature of DAO treasuries and balance sheets
- largely concentrated in volatile native tokens
- restrictions and vesting schedules on tokens + a need to minimise price impact & token dilution
- but there's both expected & unexpected DAO Opex and risks to account for
8/x Recent emergent stance on governance tokens should be discounted as equity: authorised but unissued voting shares. Hence, the asset base of some DAOs are smaller than expected.

9/x Challenge for DAOs to seek for novel ways to mitigation token dilution & price impact while tokenizing these assets & equity through asset transformation (in DeFi) and token swaps with other DAOs and protocols. Surely, there's a need for such talents and tools to facilitate
