I spent the day while working watching a 3 hour long unabridged timeline of the Danganronpa franchise and I will never think my writing is convoluted ever again and I mean that as a compliment because Danganronpa is so bonkers good. Full of flaws but still intriguing storytelling
Junko is easily one of the most crazy and well written female villains I've ever seen like she's just evil, but so fascinating to watch. You know she's horrible and cruel but you can't take your eyes away from what terrible thing she will do next
The world is insane and traumatizing to watch at times as the story unfolds. The creator really makes the audience feel the despair. But the message of ongoing belief that hope will prevail for a better tomorrow even in the darkest of times is so powerful
The mixed media jumping is always a bit of a sticking point for me (looking at you High Republic) but Danganronpa rewards you with a slew of unforgettable characters that you truly love and feel real pain for when they die. You either vehemently love them or hate them
Like I said, Danganronpa has a lot of flaws. But it's a game/show/manga/story that will make you FEEL something. And the best art makes you feel things and think hard.
