In 1837, Ghanaian King, Badu Bonsu II of Ahanta's head was cut off and sent to a museum in The Netherlands for resisting slavery.

He was betrayed by his tribesman.

He fought against colonialism by the Dutch Government.

His head was preserved in a jar.

It was returned in 2009.

In 1835, King Hintsa kaKhawuta of the Xhosa tribe (South Africa) was shot dead by British colonialists while escaping captivity.

His ears were cut off, other parts removed and head kept in Britain.

He fought against British Imperialism.

In the 1890s, Emperor Menelik II of Ethiopia fought slave trade by destroying slave market towns and amputating slave traders.

In 1897, Oba Ovonramwen of Benin Kingdom (Nigeria) was forced into exile for fighting against British Imperialism.

British troops stole over 3,000 artifacts worth $1 billion+ from his Palace, burnt down The Great Walls of Benin & hundreds of paved villages.

He wasn't dethroned.

The 1897 invasion of Benin was planned by British High Commissioner, Ralph Moor for 2 years.

He also burnt down Effurun, Agbara-Otor.

He died in a terrible manner.

He committed suicide, after having temporary insanity and insomnia, caused by malaria & backwater fever till 1909

Queen Nzinga of the Mbundu people in Angola defeated the Portuguese Army twice, when they attempted to colonise her kingdoms (1644 and 1647). She personally led her armies.

She stopped Portugal from colonialising her kingdom for several years.

Gen. Okhaemwen Irabor, the Ologbose (Minister of Defense) of Benin Kingdom was hanged by Britain on June 27, 1899.

He led a military resistance against British Imperialism for two years (1897-1899).

It is believed that they were betrayed by their tribesman, who helped Britain.

King Behanzin of Dahomey Kingdom (Benin Republic) fought against French colonialism.

He was betrayed by people in his Royal Court. He was defeated in 1894 and exiled to Martinique Island.

He died in Algeria in 1906.

His motto was "the angry shark will terrorize his enemy".

Anioma people of Delta North, Delta State, Nigeria fought against British Colonialism in series of uprisings during the Ekumeku Movement for 31 years (1883–1914).

Ijebu, a Yoruba subgroup also fought British Colonialism in 1892.

Aro, an Igbo subgroup fought them from 1901–02.

In 1900, Yaa Asantewaa led thousands of men in the resistance battle against British troops, who wanted to seize the Golden Stool of Asante.

She was the Queen Mother of the Ashanti people.

Ashanti people believe the Golden Stool holds the spirit of all Ashanti people.

She led several successful resistance battles against British troops until she was eventually defeated by a better armed British Army.

She was exiled.

Cetshwayo kaMpande, the then King of Zulu Kingdom (South Africa)'s Army massacred an entire British Battalion that was sent against him in 1879.

Days later, his men defeated and killed then Emperor of the French, Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte.

He ruled from 1873-1879.

Battle of Isandlwana, after they successfully ambushed and defeated a British Regiment of 1,700 soldiers, who were armed with guns on January 22, 1879.

They were Fons and were called Mino (our mums).

It was formed in the 1600s & ended in 1904.

They inspired Black Panther unit, Dora Milaje.

Koitalel Arap Samoei, the High Chief of the Nandi people (Kenya) was murdered for resisting British Colonialism in 1905.

He was tricked into coming for a peace agreement, & was shot dead by Richard Meinertzhagen.

His head was cut off & taken away. It still hasn't been returned.
