In a year full of adversities, persons experiencing violence and discrimination based on SOGI continued to find creative ways to further their missions, tackle the challenges that emerged and maintain their sense of purpose. (1/5)

When conditions allowed, we were able to start carrying out in-person events and country visits again, all while looking for new ways to amplify remote access and participation in other cases, since disparities and obstacles to achieve full inclusion became more evident. (2/5)

In 2021, I issued the third global call of my tenure, for a world with legal gender recognition based on self-identification. That call for action is based on years of research, all of which point to the fact that gender stereotypes are social constructs +

and that all persons have the right to challenge, ignore or subvert them in pursuit of their own happiness. Denying legal gender recognition in those terms further pushes trans persons into marginalization & keeps us from achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. (4/5)
