The kids needed to be protected - but not from Covid, from ourselves - from our "experts," our leaders, our "science." We were always the far greater threat to them. We traded science and reason, compassion and common sense for ignorance, politics, fear, and misinformation...

We pretended the rest of the world didn't exist. We ignored our children's calls for help, ignored the pleas of desperate parents telling us their kids were not ok. We traded our kids' futures for cheap safety theater, small-minded, short-sighted politics, and fake science...

We were never "following the science." We were following OUR science. And our science was wrong, from the very beginning. But we were stubborn and blind, choosing to ignore facts and data, refusing to evolve, canceling anyone who questioned our policies and our "science..."

The science, the real science, was clear - crystal clear - as much then as it is now. The pointlessness of our policies, the harms they would cause. The science has not "changed." The only thing that has changed is the lives of the millions of children we turned our backs on...

This was a crime, a premeditated one. It was a preventable tragedy, one we not only allowed to happen, but embraced wholeheartedly, either too proud, too afraid, or too cruel to see until it was too late. And we are doing it all over again, RIGHT NOW. We have learned NOTHING...

We told parents their kids were in danger, but it was all a lie. We told parents we were keeping their kids safe, that we knew what was best for them, but it was all a lie. The only thing our kids need is for us to grow up, say we're sorry, and give them their lives back. NOW.
