Thread: a lot of talk these days about EVs in cold weather. So I'm going to tweet blog about a long day of work driving in the #Adirondacks #ny21 North Country on a frigid day in my #teslamodel3. First thing I'll say: having a garage helps when it's -7f. /1
This means I start with my standard range of 284 miles without spending a bunch of battery power warming the #teslamodel3. The first part of the drive is uneventful with no noticeable loss of range. 2/βοΈπ
After stopping for an interview in Plattsburgh and getting the #teslamodel3 going again I've definitely lost some battery power/range. Started with 284 miles drove roughly 50 miles and this is my current range. Means I'll likely have to recharge a bit before getting home. -7f 3/
Because I needed to do some calling and emailing anyway I decided to top off the #teslamodel3 π. Learned that in extreme cold the super charger cables are super stiff and unwieldy. So that's a small bummer. -10f 4/
But I did find a convenient charging location for the #teslamodel3 and my time here is reasonable and it's easy for me to multitask work while filling up. -10f. Next stop @saranaclake where it's even colder. π₯Άπ/5

Home after a long drive and next time I will definitely build in more of a buffer on cold days. The #teslamodel3 range began to evaporate quickly at the end which was a little nerve-racking. /7
But the #teslamodel3 is now tucked in the #treehouse garage charging happily and staying warm. Currently 2 degrees F. πβοΈπ/end
