💉An unvaccinated Londoner who ended up in hospital “close to death” with Covid admits she had thought she was “invincible”

More below 👇

💉Carole Railton says she isn’t anti-vaccines but wrongly assumed she was too fit and healthy to end up in hospital

🧳The 70-year-old body language guru from Hackney explained she thought her previous travelling would make her less susceptible to Covid-19

🏝️“I've worked in 47 different countries throughout my previous work and have been in countries all over the world”

😷Carole’s feeling of invincibility came crashing down in late November 2021 when she started feeling ill

😓Despite numerous negative lateral flow tests, she was having night sweats, fevers and a sense of breathlessness

🩸After coughing up blood, Carole visited her GP who noticed her low heart rate and blood clots in her lungs

🚑She was rushed to A&E where she tested positive for Covid and was diagnosed with pneumonia and bilateral pulmonary embolism

💉Carole says she was nervous that she may be treated differently because of her vaccination status

🏥But she says NHS staff treated her with warmth and the utmost respect, never questioning her choice

🗣️But Carole admits that two friends she’s known for over 25 years told her she’d been selfish and ‘irresponsible’ for ‘taking up a bed’ in hospital

💉Five weeks after leaving hospital, Carole says she’s still unsure whether to get the vaccine

However, she is eternally thankful for the treatment and care she received from the NHS

💉Poor vaccine uptake in London is continuing to cause huge additional strain on London’s hospitals

😷The majority of patients in the capital’s Intensive Care Units are unvaccinated
