Human Rights Watch has come out with a damning propaganda report on India.
Full of misrepresentations & half-truths, it attempts to provide a tool to attack Indian Govt.
In this thread we will probe deep into @hrw's history, funding & working ethics. ⬇️ hrw.org/world-report/2…
1. History of HRW
Founded as 'Helsinki Watch' in 1978 (at the peak of Cold War) to keep watch on Soviet Union's adherence to Helsinki Accord.
Due to its cold war history, HRW has close working relationship with Western Government & their intelligence and propaganda units.
2. Funding
Human Rights Watch is funded by known anti-India elements including
▪️Open society foundation
▪️Ford Foundation
▪️Rockefeller Foundation
▪️BMGF
▪️MacArthur Foundation etc.
But on their website, they only name a fraction of their funding sources.
Transparency?
@hrw Claims - We "accept no government funds, directly or indirectly"
Israel's @NGOmonitor report - They recieved massive funding from @oxfamnovib which recieves vast majority of its budget from Dutch Govt.
So much for ethical funding and neutrality.
3. Working Ethics
HRW took money from Saudi billionaire on condition that it wouldn't be used to support LGBT advocacy in Middle East.
Shockingly, they went ahead even though HRW itself had documented firm's coercive labour practices.
HRW head was personally involved.
HRW head @KenRoth's sycophantic praise to @georgesoros.
Look how meekly & vulgarly, head of 'Human Rights' watch bows to US billionaire.
Question is should we give importance to an organisation
👉Whose very birth was for dubious purpose?
👉Which wavers it's publicly stated practices?
👉Which hides its funding sources?
👉Which does not hesitate accepting funds on unacceptable terms?
Our answer - NO
