70,924 new #covid19uk positive tests reported today (16-Jan).

England down a massive 45% on last Sunday and UK as a whole is half the number reported this time last week.

Very early signs of deaths levelling off too - but need to wait a few more days to be sure.

Longer term view. 70,924 new #covid19uk positive tests reported today (16-Jan). This brings the rolling average by specimen date (allowing 4 days for lag) to 118,839, equivalent to around 23-Dec (i.e. 17 days ago), a reduction of 73712 (38%) in the last week.
