I think we can all agree that Ninjago has a problem with introducing too many characters in the show that never make it to minifigure form. So after working on this project for a month or so, I'm finally ready to share 34 custom Ninjago figs I've made, all purist.
Here are the first few, Milton Dyer and Unagami. Unagami was my first custom, I got the inspiration to build him at Brickfair VA 2021 when I found that torso and thought it looked like his.
Next there's Jake, Morro, and Harumi. All three were ones I didn't really plan to make, but I found the parts for.
As soon as the latest CMF series came out with that hairpiece in red, I knew I had to make Antonia, and with her an aged up Nelson.
And after that is Racer Seven, completing the Prime Empire side characters. I didn't even plan to make her since her hair doesn't come in light brown, but I decided to do it last minute in case LEGO ever releases it in that color. Until then she's going blonde.
Next are the parents! I have two versions of Lilly, one in her Shintaro armor and the other in her pink gi that she wears in the Balance short. With her is Lou, in his S7 outfit, and Julien, with a not so subtle hint towards my second favorite theme.
Then there's Gayle Gossip and Vinny Folson. Fortunately Gayle's face is based on a real LEGO print, so she was easy enough to make.
Now for the Law. Warden Noble was another last minute addition, but the PC was planned as soon as I saw that face print. I'm waiting for the day when the mustache piece comes in grey. Also, Tommy's face is based on a real print too.
On the opposing side, here are some villains. Soto just has a new torso, and I got the idea to make Fenwick when I found his hair at Brickfair. Vangelis was taken directly from @SamsBrickLab, and as a bonus here's Vania with her hair up.
Here's my personal favorite, Camille. I'm advertising this as a Legacy Camille, since her actual hairpiece doesn't exist in purple (there aren't a lot of purple hairpieces in general, really.) Next to her is Reflectra, representing the Anniversary shorts.
Now for everyone's favorite, the Upply! The idea for this was also taken from @SamsBrickLab, though I made a few changes, mostly to the faces.
Finally after 4 years, I have a more accurate Mystake thanks to that Encanto set that came out this year. That hairpiece was impossible to find for a while. I also learned that there are only two old woman heads without glasses. And after 7 years, a more accurate Cyrus Borg.
And to round it out, here's Wu and Garmadon, both as children and in their Spinjitzu Brothers attire. Also SB Garmadon's hair is super hard to find too, and I basically had to buy the only set that it came in.
And here they all are! There's enough here to make at least 2 CMF series, with 17 each. Hopefully one day LEGO makes some (or all) of these officially! If you have any questions about where specific parts came from, I'd be happy to help.
