Virat Kohli back to his old dirty habits of Pre 14 is one of the reasons for his downfall.

A THREAD

Points to note
1) stutter in footwork
2) timing of trigger movement (most imp)
3) bat angle
4) body angle
5) length of initial front feet movement

1) Stutter in footwork

Consider a wheel that is rotating and u stop it with a hand. It stops & restarts it rotation. Similarly a stutter or lack of forward push from kohli has been seen lately. Kohli's trigger is a synchonized trigger and has to be at correct timing ... (contd)

With the delivery bowled. Thus any stutter of front foot denies him that forward push towards offstump. He finds himself in positions seen pre 13 which he worked on hard.

2) TIMING OF TRIGGER MOVEMENT

This is the most important point in all the thread. The entire point (cont).

of his malfunctioning technique revolves around the timing of his trigger . He's either early into trigger or late. In both cases since his technique is a complex mix of many mechanism working in synchronization, change in timing prevents him from achieving the position (contd)..

as seen vs rauf, he's early into trigger and has to stutter stop and replunge forward. Hence he's not forward as he should. Normally he would time his trigger and his body will push automatically forward like a well oiled machine.
As he doesn't plunge forward, he (contd) ...

He finds himself the same position that he would normally find him before 2014 technique overhaul . The bat extremely away from the body. Chest and body open towards midwicket , front feet not fully foward.

Familiar ? (Contd) ...

3) BAT ANGLE/ BODY ANGLE

Since his ill timed trigger prevents him from his natural full forward offside hip position, he finds himself half forward with a bat angle coming from gully (which normally would be 2nd slip)

Thus he finds himself entangled (contd) ...

and his hips more open towards onside cut his scoring zones. Awkward positions similar to his PRE 2014 ones.

All with 1 root cause. The timing of his trigger movement and stutter(stop) in his forward slant .

old habits coming back and the engineered correction fading away

See how early trigger stutters his feet movement vs when he would not stutter or have an early trigger movement vs similar lines.

Massive problem in the timing of his trigger and stopping the motion of his front foot.
