For the next few weeks I'll be posting footage from a small personal adventure. Currently heading to Trieste for the start. From there we will continue to the Dolomites and cross the alps "by fair means" with bike and ski. If all goes well we will arrive in Nice in June. ❄️🏞️⛷️🚲

The good things about public transport stops when riding a bike is they give you shelter. The good thing about rain is higher up it's snow ❄️❄️❄️❄️

Day 3, 72 km, 845 m up, 602 m down. Snow is coming into sight. Found the way to Nizza. Temperatures like spring. 🌻🌹🌱🌷

Another flat tire later the peaks start resembling dolomites. Big shoutout to @slovenia and especially @NovaGorica for all the awesome bicycle paths. Much appreciated👌

Approach to the first ski tour along a snowy winter hiking path. Scenery impressive, what a skyline!

Attempt to climb triglav, the highest peak of Slovenia. Not even close 😅
Perfect camouflage... Or: where am I?

🎶 Karbon, Stein und Eisen bricht, aber unser Schaufelstil nicht 🎵

❄️⛺ a safe place to sleep means a lot these days ⛺❄️

2 weeks, 514 km ⛷️ and 🚲. Still looking for snow. If you have some to spare, send it to Südtirol, we've crossed the border from Austria today.

Zirbentime in Bruneck. Thanks for the hospitality @ghtmtt

Grosse Zinne #invernale attempt. They were right that orientation in the route is key. Beautiful view on Paternkofel and Frankfurter Würstel. Unexpected ice cream (milk flavour) in the morning.

... ride into spring

After 3 weeks, 740km distance 🚲, 9000 m ascent 🚲 -- we will leave our bikes behind and continue ski only starting tomorrow in Pfelders. ⛷️⛷️⛷️⛷️⛷️

Seelenkogel, Schalfkogel, Similaun, Finailspitze, Weisskugel -- 5 days of 🔆 and a lot of ski-carrying. Headibg towards Sesvenna tomorrow.

Switzerland held some powder ❄️❄️❄️ ready for our arrival 🤩
After plenty of walking and some minor stunts this was most welcome.
Just like the break day in Scuol today 🧘‍♂️🧘‍♀️

Technical break 😏

We are fine, Julia has mild symptoms, my test was negative.

So far we had in four weeks 2 (!!) days with precipitation.
According to @meteoschweiz that's not gonna change in March. We have our sunscreen ready. As well as walking boots.

🎶Isolation, was not good for me ...
Isolation, as long as needed
And then again free.
We are stepping around in the white desert of joy. Maybe anyhow we'll get another toy. And everything will happen. And we wander.🎶

... from Guarda to Innerferrera ... Yes we did also ski sometimes 😝

... roughly 27000m ascent on ski so far ...

Meet Olaf, an - almost arctic - fox and daily visitor at #läntahütte.

#RealWinter has caught us on beautiful #Greina and sprayed our way to canton of #Uri with powder ❄️❄️❄️❄️

Magic misty days. And an ascent of 2200m today, no traces there, we were only able to manage with the help of @Toblerone

When you ask yourself why you get up that early. The beauty of twighlight.
A week on #Aletschgletscher the biggest glacier in the alps.

Spring o'clock...

« A greedy farmer 👨‍🌾 took all the land for himself and couldn't get enough. So the devil 😈 scraped away the soil so thoroughly his claws left traces in the stone »
... so the legend says

Schrattenkalk near Bundalp

"Come on, we should manage to walk straight also without a compass"

Lucky for us, the sky cleared up and we crossed pleine morte. Damit haben wir den Röstigraben übertraversé et á partir de maintenant il faut parler Français.

Night cycling until 2 o'clock in the morning, sleep for 3 hours and continue to catch the good weather window.
A.k.a. FOMO

We've dropped our skis in Chamonix (the place where you need to have a harness and ice axe on you to be served) and continue bike-and-climb now.

Today we complete a total of 3 months:
* 80000 m of altitude
* 2000 km distance
* 7 weeks ski (and walk) only from Pfelders to Anzère
* Uncountable cheese consumed

Summit time on Chamechaude with @RegisHaubourg 🤘

Climbing next to a waterfall 💦
A perfect experience with current temperatures🌞 Except when it's south facing🥵
Was great fun anyway 🫠

Taking the opportunity to add water sources to @openstreetmap here and there ...

Trying something different today 🪂
No gear or humans were severely harmed.
Kudos to @RegisHaubourg

Briançon -- pretty much any rock type can be found here 🤩

On June 5, after 111 days of cycling🚲, skiing🎿, climbing 🧗‍♂️, passing 5 countries🇮🇹🇸🇮🇦🇹🇨🇭🇫🇷, 2700 km distance and 92000 m ascent we arrived in Nice at the sea🌴 again. Stoked to have crossed the alps ⛰️ with zero carbon 🍃.
