Valentine's Day cooking thread!
I wanted to surprise the wifey so I decided to make the potato pork roast from the beginning of #FoodWars.
I quartered my potatoes and boiled them in salted water until fork tender.
In a skillet, I sauteed some diced portobello mushrooms and white onions in butter. I added some garlic and black pepper.
Let the potatoes cool on the wire rack then peeled them. I suppose you could peel them ahead of time, but I didn't.
Put the potatoes in a bowl and mashed them up.
Added the mushrooms and onions to the mashed potatoes and mixed.
I set in the fridge to cool for 20 minutes.
Laid out a bed of bacon to wrap my potato mix in.
Molded a football of potato with my hands and wrapped in a ton of thick cut bacon.
Tied up the bacon football in twine. Stuck done rosemary sprigs under the twine and shoved it into the oven.
375⁰F for 45 minutes. More or less depending on how crispy you want your bacon.
Waiting on it to finish in the oven.
Turned the red wine on to medium high top reduce it. 10 minutes.
Added butter, sake, and soy sauce to finish the glaze.
She's done!
Added the glaze drizzle on top.
And the first cut into it.
I made a really large one so it's a little soft. I should've listened to @RPGmaniac05 and froze the potato flour 20 minutes before wrapping it.
But overall, a success!
It tastes GREAT. The flavor profile is perfect.
Oh by the way, this is my first cosplay ever. Cooked Soma's food while dressed as Soma.
