Games I Beat In 2022: The Thread
#HaloInfinite
Spent 2021 playing all Halo games for the first time so I had the right context for Infinite. Well worth it!
#TheGunk
Although mediocre, it had its moment. I liked the atmosphere and art style. Shame that a bug is preventing me to get the last achievement to this day. Here's hope the studio will do something more ambitious next time.
#ConcreteGenie
I had a really good time with this game. Interesting art style and use of the DualShock4/DualSense controller. Great Platinum trophy as well.
#AstralChain
Bought the game quite a long while ago and didn't seriously play it until now. It eventually hooked me in and I couldn't let go. Highly polished game, tons of animations, unique and fun combat system. Definitely consider picking this up if you have a Switch.
#HorizonForbiddenWest
Whew! What a ride! I feel though it should have had 20% less content than it did. Still very good! Excited for the future of the series!
PS: To hell with those Hunting Grou ds challenges! I'm sick of them!
#ForzaHorizon5
This time I made sure I tried as many cars as I could to get the most out of the game and surely it improved my experience.
However, this entry tried harder than ever to get me to spend money or do tedious weekly challenges instead for cars and currency.
#BowsersFury
Superb. Refreshing.
#XenobladeChronicles2 #XC2Torna
Very well paced DLC. Gameplay a tad bit simplified to fit the 20 hour length of the content making it an enjoyable revisit of this world.
Got quite dark in the end, not something you'd expect from a XC game.
#AssassinsCreedVallhalla #WrathOfTheDruids
Oof.
It did absolutely nothing new, and I'm not being cynical. 20 more hours of what you already spend 120 in the main game doing. Devoid of any soul, and this comes from an AC nuthead.
It did ramp up a bit towards the end, though.
#AssassinsCreedVallhalla #SiegeOfParis
This DLC manages to do in 20 hours what the base game couldn't in 120. It's almost as if it had a different producer. It takes the mechanics of the game and puts them in a fresh new light. An AC game more than the past three games combined.
#AssassinsCreedVallhalla #DawnOfRagnarok
Story reached some good heights, cutscene production value was strong, and new gameplay mechanics were fun.
I expected more ties to the ISU and the norse ending of the base game.
Ideal for norse mythology lovers, not AC fans, tho.
Correction here. Upon further investigation this DLC has deep ramifications within the ISU meta I failed to see at that moment.
I've never been more excited for what's to come next for this series.
I am now convinced there's no random writing in these games that gets slapped together last moment. These things were planned for a long time now, just as future story bits in upcoming games will be.
#Stray Let's see what a sequel does. Fairly similar to other linear indie games. Start with no abilities > unlock one > unlock limited combat in the 2nd half of the game > introduce stealth and end with a puzzle. I give it points for the character being a cat.
#XenobladeChronicles3 Loved every moment of this JRPG. Just couldn't play anything else since launch. 126 hours of masterful world-building and character development.
Will firever occupy a special place in my heart.
Eager for the story DLC and more sequels.
#RiME Game had made a weak first impression. At times there was weak sign posting, other times inconsistencies in it's game design logic, but I could tell whoever worked on this poured their heart in it. Moving story. Definitely made me feel things.
#Tinykin (1000G) @SplashteamDevs made a game I fell in love with the second I first saw it and that feeling maintained from start to end. I'm happy this game exists and can't recommend it more to those that like games such as this one.
Fingers crossed for a sequel!!
#TOEM (🏆) Fun little simple game. 👍
#SpiderManMilesMorales (🏆) Fun spin-off on its own, but a much lesser experience than the title that preceded it.
Swinging and combat is just great, but puzzles and story felt like an afterthought. Some side-missions were nice and heartfelt.
#Wreckfest Top 3 favorite racing games I've ever played alongside FaltOut 2 and Burnout Paradise. Yes, I am a man of culture.
#TheArtfulEscape (🏆) I never stopped holding square.
#GodofWarRagnarok Whatever small flaws it has, the story and gameplay more than made up for them. Phenomenal game, incredibly touching story. It'll remain with me for a long, long time.
