πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†I have found my personal lane/plan in #MTGNeon and am having succes thanks to it. Let me elaborate 🧡.

p.s. Note I am mostly playing BO1 at this stage of the format to see what other people play.

Lets start with the logs of these 7-X decks so you get a feel for how I navigate:

BW: 17lands.com/draft/8726379f…

UBw: 17lands.com/draft/64edbe61…

UBr: 17lands.com/draft/5b068ded…

All 3 of these decks are pretty heavy B and this is no coincidence. First reason for this is very well captured in this slide from the Archetype breakdown stream @JasonILTG, @Sierkovitz and I did before the set came out.

@JasonILTG @Sierkovitz B is a central color in this set. Both in terms of artifact vs enchantments as in terms of assertiveness vs defensiveness. This makes it an ideal starting point, since it partners well with any of the other 4 colors.

And according to @17Lands data, each of them are a fine place to end up. The 4 BX archetypes are all in the top 6 2-color archetypes by win rate. Which makes Bx a very good place to be after pack 1.

Cards I am higher on then most are Kami of Terrible Secrets (ALSA 6.15) and Nezumi Bladeblesser (ALSA 5.79). I love the way how B alone is able to enable these cards. And I think this is why (close to) mono-B decks are doing so well. BTW Kami > Bladeblesser by a sizeable margin.

B bests commons are a healthy mix of artifacts and enchantments. So are its best uncommons (not pictured: Twisted Embrace, The long reach of night, dockside chef, nezumi prowler).

Quick note on Tribute to Horobi; if you play this out on turn 2, you allow your opponent to attack you with the rat and ninjutsu something in, getting rid of your rat. This is a scenario you should try to prevent.

Conclusion: I start every draft with a slight preference to B in this format. I think the color is deep and pairs well with any other color. I hope that helps and I am curious to hear your thoughts!

Just finished @LordsofLimited episode 253 and noticed @mistermetronome loves G and R because they are at the end of the spectra (basically the opposite of my stance). Curious to hear if that has changed in the last days Ben! We do both like the black Kami πŸ‘Œ
