A Tale of Two Blockades
Not long ago in 2020, Conservative politicians were foaming at the mouth about "illegal" blockades in Canada. I guess they think we're too stupid to recall their own words.
Please join me on a trip down hypocrisy lane!
#OttawaSiege #Ottawa #FluTruxClan
Let's start with interim CPC leader, Candice Bergen, who was "disturbed" by police enforcing laws today. She was 👌 with a lengthy #OttawaSiege, and even enjoyed pizza with protestors. Far cry from the impatient rule of law advocate we saw in Feb 2020.
Wonder what changed...🤔
Next up, former CPC leader Andrew Scheer. He had nothing but thumbs up for the #FluTruxClan but once upon a time, when he was still leader of the opposition, he was adamant that Trudeau act to end illegal blockades. Someone's had a change of heart!
Longtime Ottawa MP Pierre Poilievre, who is aiming to ride rightwingnut antivax support into the CPC leadership, has had nothing but kind words for these blockaders. They are peaceful salt-of-the-earth types...unlike the "lawless blockaders" of yore.
Saskatchewan MP Jeremey Patzer didn't think twice about shaking hands with a protestor today, after the occupation had been declared illegal and police had asked protestors to leave. Contrast that with his firm law & order stance in 2020 🙄
MP Michael J. Cooper showed his flair for the dramatic with his passionate objection to today's enforcement after 3 long weeks of lawlessness in downtown Ottawa.
Once upon a time he thought protestors breaking the law was actually a bad thing. Another change of heart I guess.
Ontario MPP and Russian asset Randy Hillier has been very vocal in supporting the #FluTruxClan, heaping praise throughout on these brave freedom fighters and even going so far as to urge reinforcements. Yet in another time and place illegal blockaders were nothing but "thugs"
MP Marilyn Gladu sat and smiled with convoy protestors. She's also eager to help those who sent donations to support this illegal blockade.
Not a word about the Ottawa workers who've been out of work for 3 weeks. Strange since she once claimed to care about such workers...
Purple koolaid drinker Maxime Bernier once said "we cannot allow a tiny minority of reactionary fanatics to paralyze the economy". Yet when a tiny minority did just that, he fed them pancakes and endorsed the closure of auto plants across Windsor.
Hah! Likely story. Surely he could have booked a hotel room to get into Ottawa.
He may be full wingnut at this point but he's still a politician, no way he was going to show up to that press conference and claim the L
Silly me, how could I forget to include the pic of Cooper giving a pro-convoy interview with a SWASTIKA in the background
The company you keep...
In fact, Maxime Bernier loooooves tiny reactionary fanatics. Here he is holding the flag for Diagolon, a far right hate group recently implicated in the Coutts blockade arrests for conspiracy to commit murder.
MP Rob Morrison from BC thought Trudeau's intervention was too heavy handed. He preferred to end the protest by caving and removing all vax mandates. Yet when it was land defenders doing the blockading, he was all for a heavy police response.
In a hilarious drunken confession to an online rando, Sen. Michael MacDonald admitted he doesn't want protestors cleared out of Ottawa. Needless to say, he felt very differently when it was a different kind of protest, with a different kind of protestor.
Once upon a time MP Lianne Rood cared that commuters couldn't work because of blockades. Back then blockades were "lawless" and on Trudeau to fix
All that was forgotten of course when Rood stepped up early amd often to heap praise on the #FluTruckKlan and their message of "hope"
