THREAD: Harris Co. Commissioners Court approved of a contract to transfer incarcerated persons from the tjail to LaSalle Corrections in Louisiana. This is a backlog crisis caused by District Attorney Kim Ogg and law enforcement. 1/

We will gather on Saturday, March 5, at 11 AM, at the Harris County Jail, 701 N. San Jacinto St., Houston, TX, 77002.

Our Demands:
Depopulate Jail-
-drop all felony charges older than 9 mos with narrow, minimal exceptions

-release on PR bonds all pregnant people, children 18 yrs & under, medically vulnerable to Covid-19

-release on personal bond those held for technical probation violations 4/

-release everyone serving jail sentence within 6 mos of completing their time

Decriminalize Our Communities-
-stop “quality of life” arrests

-halt failure to pay warrants

-cite & release eligible Misdemeanor A & B offenses

-end houselessness criminalization & stop sweeps 5/

Jail is 4 min walk from Red Northline TC UH Downtown Stop.

Take the 11 to San Jacinto @ Baker if you are taking METRO bus.

On-street is PAID on Sats. before 6 pm. Be sure to pay meter before joining event. parking
