We had the Furby scene in the movie forever- and it always worked as a funny, psycho scene- BUT- it didn't always work as a story.

We realized that the scene needed to be about the relationships- so we had this moment of Rick and Katie slowly bonding.

Then- it was important to see the family come together here.
Especially since the last action scene (at Dinoland) was such a disorganized disaster- it gives the family a win here.
So you feel like the story is moving forward! And the family is connecting more! (3/4)
But then you needed to pull the wool out from under the family and make things like 10 times harder! If we didn't have this beat- again the movie feels like it would be over.
They'll have to go to Silicon Valley into the belly of the beast itself! Stakes=RAISED!
