#JUST_IN: A heir to the British throne, Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, has told a function in Jamaica that the atrocity of slavery forever stains history & he wishes to express his "profound sorrow".

William says "slavery was abhorrent & should never have happened".

William made the remarks during a dinner at King's House which is the official residence of Governor General, Sir Patrick Allen.

The Duke was addressing a host of dignitaries & state officials including Jamaica's Prime Minister @AndrewHolnessJM.
