Now that #DragRace's golden bar has been unwrapped, it's time to rank each chocolate reveal from *sad trombone* to most unforgettable. Join me! 🍫
7. Kerri Colby: "It is chocolate."
Kerri is her usual gorgeous & poised self—even giving us the extra syllable of "it is" versus the "it's" contraction. Pure class! However, I was just far too heartbroken over this elimination for it to rank any higher.
6. Kornbread: "Ooh girl... It’s just a chocolate bar.”
After her untimely departure, we watched Kornbread unwrap her bar at the top of that week's Untucked. Of course Ms. Bread found a way to make the moment entertaining, but it lacked the dramatics of the main stage reveals.
5. Orion Story: “It’s chocolate.”
I like how demurely Orion delivers the line, somehow making the sad trombone cue hit even harder. But this one's really all about her outfit, her giant bunny ears hunched over like she's Peter Cottontail telling a lie.
4. Alyssa Hunter: "It's just chocolate."
Maybe it's the addition of "just," or perhaps the enunciation of that third syllable in "choc-o-late," but the cadence of the way Alyssa announces her fate is perfection. Points for originality AND delivery!
3. Jasmine Kennedie: "It's chocolate."
Much in the same way she let the chiding from her sisters roll off her back all season, Jasmine takes the reveal like a champ. Plus I'm OBSESSED with the way Ru repeats "it's chocolate" back to her, all but acknowledging its inevitability.
2. Maddy Morphosis: "It's chocolate."
With a grimace and a breathy laugh, Maddy certainly "gets" it. The humility here is key, like she knows the iffy optics around the possibility of the lifeline going to the show's first straight, cis contestant. Well played, Maddy!
1. June Jambalaya: "It's chocolate."
What can I say? She's a trailblazer! June was the first, and she showed us how [humbling / exhilarating / mortifying] the chocolate reveal could be. THIS is camp. June made herstory, and we'll be forever grateful.
