🧵 How exactly are Canadians supposed to free themselves from the grip of Orwellian “new normals” when almost every media outlet-even local newspapers- celebrate the idea of a “Papers Please,” society via medical segregation? They mock your right to autonomy. (See 🧵 for more)
Back in August, the NL Telegram writer Peter Jackson did a piece about the “anti-vaccine scourge” & misinformation, referencing a scene from the series “House,” where he tells a mother about “teeny, tiny baby coffins,” because she won’t 💉 her child. (2/9)
How could we ever forget this beauty from @TorontoStar. Sewing more seeds of resentment and “othering” an entire group of people based on their own medical decisions to the point that they don’t care if they die, AND they don’t DESERVE hospital beds if needed. (3/9)
Who would write such a seething and reprehensible article? None other than a “mental health reporter,” clearly failing to see her disgusting hypocrisy in the apathy towards the death of others, simply because they didn’t take a 💉. Peak journalism. @nadineyousif_ (4/9)
It’s interesting that a woman proud to wear the title of “mental health reporter” can also have no empathy towards several MILLION Canadians, just because they didn’t do what SHE thinks they should do with their bodies. Narcissism served on a silver platter. @nadineyousif_ (5/9)
Back to the local article: I guess it’s just a “small price to pay” when the government coerces you into medical interventions in order to fly, maintain a job, or avail of businesses. Don’t listen to “naysayers and conspiracy theorists.” Coercion is for your safety. (6/9)
Aren’t you glad that clinics are turning 13 year old unvaccinated boys away, even if his parents are vaccinated? I mean, just IMAGINE how many lives were saved that day? IMAGINE if the unvaccinated scourge was allowed to seek medical help for his wrist injury!? (7/9)
And finally, if all else fails in getting your message across and convincing a population of people to take a certain medical intervention, I guess you do so with whatever means necessary. Including invoking the Hindu Gods. To foster trust… or something. #coercion (8/9)
In order to vaccinate 700/1100 of Malana’s adults, their district chief had priests invoke a Hindu deity so that 64% would take the vaccine.
Media constructs our narratives & what they deem perceptually appropriate. Clearly without bias. Our Overton window needs repair. (9/9)
