One of the traditional ways the faithful have venerated the Virgin Mary,was with a family home or parish church Mary Garden.
Bluebells are Marian flowers.
Bluebells were originally called ‘Our Lady’s Thimbles’ to honor Mary’s motherly housework as she made the clothes Jesus wore.

The Snowdrop became a symbol of Mary's purity&is also known as Flower of Purification. In Italy and other countries in Europe the statue of Mary was removed from the altar on 2nd of February and Snowdrops were strewn in its place.

Violets are associated with Mary because they have long been a symbol of humility and simplicity. They have a modest way in which the flowers nestle among the leaves and grow low to the ground. It is said that the violet dropped its head in the shadow of the crucifix.

Mary’s feet and on her mantle. Another name for the strawberry is ‘Fruitful Virgin’because it has both flowers (white) and fruit on the plant at the same time, representing the twin attributes of purity and fruitfulness.

The honey-scented, golden-yellow flowers, and whorls of slender, dark green leaves, which have a pleasant smell when cut and dried, were used in Victorian times as a mattress-filler. Not only did they have a pleasant smell, but Our Lady’s Bedstraw also helped repel fleas.
