Today we celebrate #EuropeDay2022, and restate the SNP’s commitment to an independent Scotland becoming an EU Member State. Here are 10 Reasons Why Scotland Should Be In The EU: 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤️🇪🇺

1. SOLIDARITY WITH A GLOBAL A-TEAM
The threats facing our societies are global, and the EU leads progressive action to solve common challenges. An independent Scotland would be far stronger in the EU than in a post-Brexit UK’s self-inflicted isolation. #EuropeDay2022

2. EQUALITY WITH ALL EU STATES
Unlike in the UK, an independent Scotland would truly be an equal partner in the EU and would seek to be a progressive voice and role model internationally - promoting greater consensus, equality, and respect.

3. RESTORATION OF FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT
Close to my heart cos of hubby Hans! ❤️
By re-joining the EU, Scots would be able to LOVE, travel, work, study or live in any other EU/EEA country, without visa red tape and Scottish businesses could hire the talent they need. #EuropeDay2022

4. BRING DOWN BARRIERS
Scottish voters rejected Brexit but the UK Government has pursued an economically damaging ‘Deal’ which will reduce the UK’s GDP by 4% - twice the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We can only undo this harm by Scotland rejoining the EU. #EuropeDay2022

5. TRADE
The Free Trade Agreements proposed by the UK Government will not come close to making up for the loss of EU trade post-Brexit.
By re-joining the Single Market and Customs Union, Scotland would re-open its economy and exporters to EU-states. #EuropeDay2022

6. TAKE PART IN SETTING STANDARDS
EU regulations protect consumers, workers & environment & allow goods to be sourced in EU States without bureaucracy, tariffs, or border checks. Instead of PM’s plan for ‘bonfire of EU laws’, Scotland would uphold EU standards. #EuropeDay2022

7. ENERGY
Scotland has 25% of Europe’s marine energy potential which would be a key source of income as well as helping Europe end dependency on Kremlin-controlled oil & gas - strengthening EU’s climate AND geo-strategic security.

8. SCIENCE AND RESEARCH
For centuries, Scotland has punched above its weight in research & innovation. As part of the EU - in funding programmes such as Horizon - Scottish Universities can attract leading researchers and collaborate on solving collective problems.

9. INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Scotland takes a different approach to the UK when it comes to helping the world’s most vulnerable. We could have a bigger impact working with EU partners to tackle biggest challenges - climate change, post-COVID recovery, and poverty. #EuropeDay2022

10. WORKERS RIGHTS
The EU aims to achieve a ‘level playing field’ by upholding social rights for workers & people in general. By joining a bloc that safeguards fundamental rights, an independent Scotland would ensure wellbeing of workers at home and across Europe. #EuropeDay2022

Above are 10 reasons for #IndyScotland to rejoin the EU - maybe you could add your own reason 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤️🇪🇺
