I've been digging through @OthersideMeta these last few days in an attempt to figure out where this all leads and to see what possible "edge" I could gain on the market when new info comes out.

A 🧵 on this gamified, interoperable & web3-enabled virtual word that will be built

1/ What is the starting inspiration for @OthersideMeta?

>> Clearly it's Dungeons & Dragons as stated on the website...

But I have 0 familiarity with the gameplay of D&D, so I watched this video and it helped clear some things up

2/ D&D takeaway

Otherside will be D&D on steroids as Otherside's #metaRPG builds upon D&Ds core concepts

Fantasy characters -> Your bags (pfp NFTs)

Player Card -> "Choose your starting stats and skills" from THE RIFT

Fighter Wizard Rouge -> Look @ Koda traits & weapons

3/ Yuga + all of us = dungeon master?

Otherdeeds are the key to shaping this game and overall experience... but the use of Otherside's environments, sediments, and resources don't quite add up to D&D gameplay.

We'll explore a few other MMORPGs for possible use cases.

4/Other MMORPGs

1. World of Warcraft
2. Runescape
+others

These games are wildly popular bc of character growth through "grind" mechanics to lvl up stats, completion of quests to gain access to new areas/items, and fighting bosses to collect loot & in-game currency

5/In-game currency and Marketplaces
Enter: $APE

WoW has the Auction House - trade with Gold

RS has the Grand Exchange - trade with gp (gold pieces)

Otherside has...? likely some exchange that uses $APE for trading in-game items + Opensea for trading our pfp NFTs

6/ But what exactly will we buy & sell in Otherside?

> Resources
> Sediment
> Items harvested from each type of environment?
> Artifacts
> Crafted Items (forged hammers, axes etc.)
> Armor/Weapons -> See Kodas Clothing/Weapons

7/ Drawing some parallels pt. 1

> Linking lands seems a lot like designing your Player-Owned-House in Runescape where you could re-arrange items within your home that guests could benefit from while training skills, moving around the world map, restoring stats, etc.

8/ Parallels pt. 2

The use of obelisks for charging/enhancing items.
Interestingly though, only 15 obelisk artifacts in Otherside. 👀 Might we be paying some sort of toll to their owners to use them?

9/ End

A bit clustered, but that's all I have for right now...
